Bio: Charles Balmat, born January 12, 1903 in Chamonix, was a high mountain guide. He is one of the descendants of Jacques Balmat, known as "Balmat du Mont-Blanc", born in 1762 in the Chamonix valley in the village of Pélerins and died in September 1834 in the valley of Sixt, who was a chamois hunter, crystal maker and guide who succeeded in the first ascent of Mont Blanc (4,808 meters) in the company of Doctor Paccard, on August 8, 1786
